The Religious Right, architects for placing George W. Bush into the Presidency, has raised a gloom and doom vision for a future with Obama as President. They believe ever so soon we will wish for more placid times when we fought two useless wars and engineered the greatest loss of wealth the world has ever seen. Oh, those halcyon days when we all woke to find retirement out of the picture. It was only a time when unregulated greed and corporate lawlessness finally did its ultimate damage.
Without this particular Republican administration you are to expect terrorist strikes on four American cities, Russia rolling into Eastern Europe, Israel hit by a nuclear bomb, Gay marriage in every state and the end of the Boy Scouts. That's the vision from the Religious Right. Do you buy it?
All are plausible scenarios for the conservative Christian group Focus on the Family Action now with a darkened legacy.
I have news for the Christian Right.
The Scouts accepting Gay leadership became a possibility early in the Republican Presidency. It is only public opinion and the dollars that flow to the organization that keeps them from it not President.
Should we remind Focus that Terrorist attacks upon this nation began at the beginning of the Republican Presidency. We have always been warned during the Republican Presidency to steady ourselves for the certainty that terrorists will attack again.
As for Israel being hit by a nuke, well, Israel has known at it's beginning and will know forever that peace cannot be found while a wartime Republic Presidency continually fails in MidEast dialogues of peace. Who will listen to a message of peace arriving from the bloody hands of this Republican administration.
If Russia chooses to roll into the countries of eastern Europe, with or without Obama in office, it matters little. The Republicans did nothing to discourage the retreat of Russians out of Georgia. It was pressure from their neighbors that speaks louder.
As for gay marriage in every state, let the Republicans be reminded. The President of the United States has little influence upon states rights. Besides, it's already happening in a number of states and that was during a conservative Republican administration. Bush had no power to reverse it. I have been married since 1971, even to the same gal. Such a matter does not touch my marriage, which has survived all sorts of political leadership.
Studying McCain, he is the prisoner at war with his ancestors for not making military grade in battle. After unsatisfactory wars since then, it is he who has something to prove in war. Just like Bush.
Internationally there is less support for McCain than can be mustered here in the United States.
A piece of advice for the Religious Right. Extract yourselves from politics. Stay . Heal thyselves in thy dwindling church congregations. Step back into the shadows. America is angry. We are looking for fall guys. Do not be seen for awhile for your own good.

"'Former Massachusetts Gov. William Weld, a Republican, endorsed Democrat Barack Obama for president on Friday, citing the senator's steady leadership, good judgment and ability to unify Democrats, Republicans and independents.'
"'Sen. Obama is a once-in-a-lifetime candidate who will transform our politics and restore America's standing in the world,' Weld said in a statement.
"'We need a president who will lead based on our common values and Sen. Obama demonstrates an ability to unite and inspire. Throughout this campaign I've watched his steady leadership through trying times and I'm confident he is the best candidate to move our country forward,' he said."
well good for you.

p.s. uh, er, let's not forget 1948 though.
Obama remembers 1948. He is running through the finish line. You speak of Dewey and Truman. Or maybe you speak of the year Hells Angels was born, or the birth year of Stevie Nicks or Alice Cooper.
The only thing that can sidetrack the election of the more capable candidate fifty years later is the fact that Obama has mixed ethnicity and we know that folks will not bring themselves to vote for the man because of that.....only because of that, saying that they did vote for him. We'll see what percent.
Thank you for the visit. Politics might be the least interesting thing to talk about, excepting perhaps applying mortality tables to McCain. From the world's standards, do you suppose any government flying a armed drone over the house of another sovereign nation is not terrorizing? If there is a terrorist within our midst it isn't Obama.
I ran across the same kind of person the other day, saying this and that terrible thing about Obama is certainly true,,,outragious things not previously said....and with out any present evidence.
Character assassination is a poison taking the place of truth.
The Big lie is a good weapon when the truth stops.
I 'feel' that our country is in for some serious times in the next four years. In that regard I guess I'm identifying with 'Ol Joe Biden,' you know of who I speak - 'that old Senator who couldn't get anyone (and I mean anyone) to vote for him as Prez, and grabbed for the VP nod as a 'Titantic passenger' would of grabbed a piece of wood floating in the water. Yeah... I agree with 'ol Joe' - they will 'test' Obama (if he's elected) like no other prez has been tested since JFK (and the world almost ended back then in 1961.)
So... oh by the way - in the spirit of 'neutrality,' I must point out here - that if.... 'if' McCain wins the Presidency and then 'dies' shortly thereafter - we will see the 'testing' of Sarah Palin like nobody knows how.... whew... that is not a good thought.
anyhow... we have possible 'testing' scenrios out the you know what, on both sides of the aisle. Hey... they may test McCain's 'trigger finger' (know what I mean?) ... if he's elected. Hell these people in N.Korea and Iran don't care if they start a nuclear war or not. So...McCain being elected Prez is equally dangerous....
and what about the 'race riots' (sorry they're already predicted) that will take place if...'if' Obama 'loses.'
They (prominet Democrats/Black leaders) are already saying (check the morning newspaper/internet) ... that 'if' Obama loses it will "ONLY" because of the anti-black vote that exists in this country. In fact one of these people is quoted as saying 'this election is really a "test" on how far 'race-relations' has come in this country.
so.... tests? yeah, we will have plenty... they're lining up as I type these words.... hold on to your hat... it's going to get pretty damn 'rough and rowdy' out here.
